Frequently asked questions

Everything most clients want to know about how remote IT support works, what the $500 website includes, pricing, and security.

Remote IT support

How does remote IT support actually work?
After you contact Swanson Tech Solutions, Cody sends the attended Splashtop SOS instructions. You run the app, share the nine-digit code shown on screen, watch the work, and disconnect or close the app when finished. See the complete safety process.
Is remote support secure?
Yes. Sessions are end-to-end encrypted, require a one-time code that only you can share, and are short-lived. I have no standing access to your computer outside the session.
What if you can't fix my problem?
Then you don't pay. Simple as that. If the fix needs hardware I can't replace remotely, I'll tell you exactly what to do next at no extra charge.
Do you offer on-site support?
I'm remote-first, which is faster and cheaper for almost every issue. On-site visits are available by request in the St. Paul, NE area when a job genuinely needs hands on the hardware.
What kinds of problems do you handle?
Slow PCs and Macs, virus and malware removal, Wi-Fi and networking, printer issues, software setup (Microsoft 365, QuickBooks, Adobe, email, password managers, backups), and small-business network help. If you're not sure, just ask.

Websites

Is the website preview really free?
Yes. The preview is a way to see the idea before committing to a full website. There is no upfront payment and no pressure to move forward.
What happens if I like the preview?
If the preview looks useful for your business, we can turn it into a full custom website for the same $500 flat price listed on the site.
Is the $500 website really flat? No monthly fees?
Yes. $500 covers design, build, and launch of a custom static website (up to 10 pages). The only ongoing cost is your domain name (about $10/year). You own the code and can take it anywhere.
What can the $500 website include?
Up to 10 pages — typically Home, Services, About, Gallery, Contact, and other simple business pages. It's mobile-first, SEO-ready, and integrates with your Google Business Profile.
How long does a website take to build?
Most small-business sites get a private preview link in a few hours to 1 day after kickoff. You can request changes before launch.
Do you do website hosting?
I'll walk you through on how to setup a domain with Cloudflare (reputable website hoster) and purchasing a domain. After that you will send me an invite link to my email, so I can access it for future updates/maintenance. But you still own your domain and all of the code -- No monthly fee.
Can you update or fix an existing website I already have?
Often yes. Send me a link and a quick description of what you need — I'll let you know upfront whether I can help and roughly how long it should take. Edits are billed at the same $75 / first-hour rate.

Pricing & payment

How much does remote IT support cost?
$75 for the first hour, then $37.50 per additional 30 minutes. There is no upfront payment — you only pay once the issue is resolved.
What payment methods do you accept?
Major credit and debit cards, ACH, Venmo, and PayPal. Invoices are sent after the work is finished.
Do quotes change?
No. Quotes are firm — what I say is what you pay. If something turns out to be bigger than expected, I'll stop and re-quote before doing more work.

Service area

What areas do you serve?
Swanson Tech Solutions is based in St. Paul, NE and primarily serves Central Nebraska businesses — including St. Paul, Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings, Columbus, Central City, Aurora, Ord, Loup City, and surrounding communities. Many services are available remotely, so help is not limited to one city.
Can you help if I'm outside Nebraska?
Yes — anything that can be done remotely doesn't care where you are. Just send a message describing what you need.

Still have a question?

Send a quick message — I usually reply within a few hours.

Questions worth answering clearly

How does Splashtop remote support begin?
You contact Swanson Tech Solutions first. Cody sends the attended Splashtop SOS instructions, and you share the nine-digit code shown in the app only when you are ready.
Can Cody reconnect without me later?
Normal one-time support does not install the always-on Splashtop Streamer. Close or exit the SOS app when finished. While the app remains open, treat its displayed code as active.
Do I need to share a password?
Type passwords yourself when possible. If a specific login is required, Cody will explain why before continuing.
How is private information handled?
Close private files and tabs before a session. Customer information, screenshots, names, and business details are not shared without permission.
What happens if remote support cannot fix the issue?
You do not pay for the failed fix. Cody explains whether the next step is hardware repair, an internet provider, or another hands-on service.
Who owns a completed $500 website?
You own the completed code and your domain. The standard package includes up to 10 pages and does not add a monthly platform fee from Swanson Tech Solutions.
