Prepare the account

Choose the correct account type
- Select Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft 365 for a work Microsoft account.
- Select Google for Google Workspace rather than generic IMAP.
- Use host-provided IMAP and SMTP settings only for other domain email services.
Verify more than the inbox
- Send and receive a test message.
- Check calendar and contact synchronization if the business uses them.
- Enable a screen lock and remote device protection because the phone now contains business information.
Stop guessing when the problem keeps coming back
Ask for help when sign-in loops, mail arrives but will not send, old messages are missing, or the account requires unknown server settings.
