Stop creating more copies
- Do not press Print repeatedly while the first job is stuck.
- Open the queue for the correct physical printer and cancel all jobs.
- Wait a moment for cancellation to finish before restarting anything.
Restart the connection
- Turn off the printer, restart the computer, then power the printer back on.
- On Windows, restart the Print Spooler service if jobs remain after reboot.
- On a Mac, pause and resume the printer or remove and re-add it only after basic steps fail.
Find the job that caused it
- Large PDFs, damaged files, unusual fonts, and oversized images can freeze a queue.
- Try printing one simple text page from a different program.
- Update the printer driver if one file type repeatedly causes the same failure.
Stop guessing when the problem keeps coming back
