Wi-Fi & Internet

Why Is Wi-Fi Slow in One Room but Fine Elsewhere?

Diagnose distance, walls, interference, and poor access-point placement before buying an extender.

Confirm it is a coverage problem

  • Run the same speed test with the same device near the router and in the problem room.
  • Check whether all devices struggle in that room or only one device.
  • Notice doors, concrete, brick, mirrors, appliances, and metal shelving between locations.

Improve placement first

  • Raise the router into an open, central location instead of a cabinet or floor corner.
  • Move it away from microwaves, cordless phone bases, and dense utility areas.
  • A small placement change can outperform a poorly located extender.

Choose an expansion carefully

  • A mesh node needs a strong connection to the main unit; do not place it inside the dead zone.
  • Wired access points provide better reliability when cabling is practical.
  • Cheap repeaters can reduce speed and create confusing duplicate networks.
When to ask for help

Stop guessing when the problem keeps coming back

Ask for help when the building layout is complicated, business devices roam between rooms, or several attempted extenders have made coverage worse.
